Jim and Carolene Martin of Fenton, Missouri began Martin Service in 1967. Jim Martin saw the upcoming interest in the natural gas fired furnace. Many homes at that time were fueled by oil. Contractors wanting to move to the new, cleaner technology, placed their emphasis on this new technology. This movement opened the door for Jim to step in and fill the void left by the contractors wanting to move away from oil furnace sales and service. "People needed a service company that would be there for them to service their equipment and I decided that service company would be mine" stated Jim Martin during a recent ACCA meeting. "Still today, in 2011, we have customers who really enjoy their oil fueled furnace, it is a much warmer heat. That's what they want and Martin Service is still here to provide this equipment for our customers"
Yes, Martin Service has expanded the products they service and sell, still emphasizing meeting the customer's needs. In 2007, Martin Service joined forces with Jetco Heating and Air Conditioning. Together, they have become a formidable team.
Jetco was started by Karl and Delores Sonderman in 1964 in the city of St. Louis. Karl saw the value in a full service company which provided for their customers, an in house sheet metal shop. Jetco provided the full line of heating and cooling equipment, custom fabricated sheet metal along with continued annual maintenance contracts to ensure valid manufacturerer's warranty. "We wanted our customers to know that Jetco was here for them in their time of need to service or maintain their heating and cooling systems" confided Karl.
Both of these men began their businesses in the sixties and quickly learned the value of each customer. Jim and Karl grew their businesses into family operations. Each company had a son who earned the responsibility and privledge of carrying on the company solid foundation of "Always Customer Service First". Along with that privledge has come the weight of following hardworking, honest men.
Today, Martin Jetco has earned the title of "Dealer of the Year" by YORK an unprecedented 6 years running. The leaders at Martin-Jetco are Eric Martin and Dale Sonderman. Leanne Martin, Eric's wife, has honed her management skills in this male dominated industry and has proved to be a strong driving force within this company. Martin-Jetco maintains its customer base for oil burning furnaces and boilers, not a product line many contractors in the St. Louis metro area can challenge.
Martin-Jetco's focus on customer service has only strengthened over time. "Our ONLY focus is always being readily available to our customers, not just on cold or hot days, but when a storm rolls through the area and leaves them totally without any heating or cooling. It is a core company principle, that all employeees rise to meet the needs of our customers" explains Eric Martin, President of Martin-Jetco.
